Planning

It was another day of getting some things packaged and in the mail with C & E.  We are working on a plan on when to leave and the best route to take.  There are many things to consider, not just the pandemic.  They have decisions to make about the apartment and other things too.  I'm feeling like I am in a bit of a holding pattern.  

In September our Barony has a big camping event over Labor Day weekend.  This year there is a pandemic.  Holding an event with close to two hundred people is not advised.  We will be having another online event instead.  Tonight there were a couple of small meetings discussing this and making plans.  I think there was a bunch of learning during the online event we had last month.  Perhaps I can take some of this time away from home to plan some things for the event.  One of the things we are hoping for is a quest.  Time ran away from us last time, maybe I can help put something together this time.  Suddenly I want to weave but my looms are about 2000 miles away.

Home

Home is where you hang your hat.  While I am in Texas that is with a friend of mine.  Today we stayed home all day.  We talked food, school, hair, and gardens.  Then we played Minecraft.  It was a good day.  I miss my home in New Hampshire so I asked for some pictures.  My happy is the pictures.

They aren't wild, there is a place that is not accessible that seems to have a grape arbor.

Maybe next year (or in the fall) we can get in there before everything else pops up.

Good News

It was nice to not hear loads of fireworks tonight.  I admit that they tend to cause me a little bit of anxiety.  They are beautiful and can be dangerous, that is just the way it is.  This day after the holiday is the one that we came to Texas for.  We have been trying to get C and E's apartment cleaned up.  They had a roommate problem while they were in NH.  The roommate made a mess of the place, the owner saw the mess and gave them two weeks to fix the place up.  We drove from New Hampshire to Texas, the offending roommate left, we cleaned the place up, and now the owner is happy.  That is my happy for today.  It made the trip down here, during a pandemic, worth the time and energy.  Tomorrow we rest, then it will be time to figure out the next step.

Independence Day

There was a partial eclipse tonight.  It was partial enough to not be seen easily by the naked eye.  The full moon was beautiful and many people set off fireworks in neighborhoods to celebrate the Fourth of July.  Austin is not a small area and between the city lights and full moon, few stars are visible.  It was dark enough to not see the mosquitoes having their midnight feast on us as we lay upon the trampoline to view the sky.  

Every year on Independence Day my family tries to watch the musical "1776".  The movie is about the days leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  Today C, E and I watched it together.  "1776" is a favorite of E's too.  Every time I watch the movie I come up with questions about the historical accuracy.  One of the things I looked up this year was about Caesar Rodney, the delegate from Delaware.  In the movie he has cancer and isn't expected to live long.  In reality he lived until 1784, eight years after the Declaration of Independence was signed.  I didn't research that much more and wonder how sick he was in 1776.  Maybe I will look that up another day.  Most likely there is a website somewhere that lists discrepancies between the movie and real life.  

The moon and the movie are my happy things for today.
