This morning I made a list. Normally I try to remember without writing any of it down. I tried not to make it an impossible list. One item had a question mark, so if I had the time and felt like it, I could do. That item did not get done. I at least touched on everything else on the list. It is very satisfying to check off completed items. I used the Google Keep app so when the items are checked off they go to the bottom and out of site. There won't be a running list of what I did though, I just changed the date at the top and unchecked the items I should do every day, like the dishes (three loads today!) and weeding.
One of the items was to go through at least one box from storage. I ended up going through one that had some things that had been given to me after an uncle passed away. He loved nature and some of the things I was given were rocks, books on rocks, slides, and a card catalog of plants he had collected. I am amazed at the work he put into this collection. I aspire to be able to make something similar but on a computer. Most likely I won't ever do this, but who knows. Here is a picture of one of his cards:
It looks like he would collect the specimen and then go home to fill out what information he could find. Some of the cards have medicinal uses written on them or other information. I've been doing that with photos, but not keeping them in any type of file it doesn't make for a convenient reference. Finding this is my happy for today. I chose that card because we have that (or a similar species) on the property.
