House Hunting

When I write this blog, I am usually in bed, basically ready to got to sleep.  Tonight this is true.  I went for a walk today and decided to make a point of syncing my Fit-bit.  My step count is 14,944.  If I wanted to get out of bed and go downstairs and return I would have 15,000 steps.  I think that writing and sleep will win tonight.  If I wanted that goal, I'd be up getting it now.  I have exceeded my goal for the day and will rest.

After work today Gideon and I went for a walk.  It wasn't any walk, we had a goal.  We were going to look at a house at 5:00 and wanted to try to walk there.  Okay, this was my goal, but when I suggested it to the family via messenger at lunch today Gideon was in.  He had energy and wanted to walk with me, along a state route, and cross a city border walking.  We didn't reach our goal.  The walk would have been about 4.1 miles, we got to 2.4 miles.  The GPS implied it would be a little less than an hour to reach our goal and it was almost 5:00, so K and Z picked us up.  Gideon was tired by this point, at least tired of walking, he still had some energy.  Gideon doesn't walk as fast as me, shorter legs on an eight year old, so the walk took much longer than the hour and 24 minutes the GPS thought it would take us.

The house...there are mixed feelings about the house.  It was built in 1745.  The cellar is a cellar, not a basement.  It can't be finished and obviously gets water occasionally.  This is okay, we have had places like this before.  The ceilings are low on the first floor, not as low on the second.  Some of the rooms are spacious.  People are still living there and I had a hard time using my imagination and putting us there.  I kind of got a non-explainable bad vibe, which may have been allergy related.  There are about 14 acres of land.  There was also an in-law type apartment.  The main kitchen is new.  They are very excited about this house.  I'm in denial.  I did get another box mostly packed when we got home.

My happy for today is the walk with Gideon.  We had a pretty good time just talking about math, rivers, paths and streets until we got to a hill.  He started getting tired, but was still a great sport about continuing on until his parents could get there to pick us up at about 4:50; just in time to get to the house viewing.
