Little Kindnesses

This morning started with K and I going on errands.  Our first stop was to deliver a package to a friend's house.  Our friend left today to be with some of her family, south, about a 10-12 hour drive.  We needed to be there before she left and we were.  When we got there, as expected, it seemed that everyone was still sleeping.  We decided to shovel out her driveway.  This is, most decidely, the happiest part of my day.  I am not a good gift buyer.  Finding ways to come in and do something quick that could help a friend or a stranger are much more my style.  Of course, I'd still need to think of what to do.   There were a few things like that today to help my be happy:

  • We also dropped off a gift to another friend who lived nearby.

  • We managed to head in kind of the right direction and ended up at the store I was looking for as I plugged it into the GPS app.  We hadn't been to this particular store before.

  • I put away a shopping cart for a customer parked by us.  Isn't it great when you can tell someone is smiling behind their mask?

  • We tried to find a jam on the top shelf for a customer in the grocery store.  They were sold out, the customer moved on.  K found a similar product, different brand, and I found the customer and offered her the substitute.  She seemed to appreciate the gesture.

  • At one of the stores the items that I purchased didn’t want to ring in correctly.  We remained patient and kind while the cashier had to get help from the frontline manager at least three times.  The end result was that we got the items for almost half the price.

  • When K and my adventures were over I went out with Z for some other errands.  One of those was to get the oil changed in the car.  The crew there were super friendly.

  • E made Russian tea cakes-they were delicious!

  • For a little while we couldn’t find Nanni.  She had somehow made her way into a cubby-cute picture below.

  • TF called to help me be accountable and try to keep me focused.

  • This morning my phone reminded me of a friend's birthday.  I haven't seen this person in possibly twenty years, but there is Facebook now.  Technology can be a wonderful thing. As I get older, sometimes it is just wonderful to know people are still there from the past that remember me and vice versa.

Winston having his breakfast.

It snowed yesterday leaving lovely white covered trees.

Driveway shoveled!

Stay safe!
