Snowshoes

It is very possible that today is the first time I ever really used snowshoes.  I feel like I may have tried them on and did a very quick check to see how they felt before; but today I went on a short walk.  I only went a little way out back.  It is tough going in so much snow even with the snowshoes on.  The muscles I used were a little different and I had to pay attention to my footing in a way that I wasn't used to.  My knee was bothering me before I went out, so I didn't want to push myself.  It wasn't bothering me at all when I got back inside...bodies are weird.  I'm glad I finally got out and used the snowshoes.  They are something that I inherited from a very dear relative.  Other happy things for today:

  • More tracks in the snow.  I'm pretty sure the tracks led to an underground home for the critters.  I wonder if I will ever learn the common animal tracks around here.  I must say that this much snow really distorts the footprint.
  • We let Winston and Nanni, the two new cats, to other parts of the house today.  They seem to be adapting to us alright, but not as much to each other.
  • Nanni made her way into my room when I came in with my hands full.  I let her explore, but my room isn't cat ready and they won't be in here by themselves.  She gave me snuggles.
  • TF and I are working at holding each other accountable.  We talked about our plan for the week today and made lists.  I'm hoping for a very productive week.
  • The cold finally started to freeze out one of the petunia plants.  I brought them all into my room to thaw out.  Some are still looking pretty good, others, not so much.  I'm glad that I noticed them before they all got too damaged.  I just looked it up, and petunias are not poisonous for cats or dogs, yay!

Stay safe.
