Why I wanted to take it slow...

About three-quarters of the way through the McDonald's hot caramel sundae I remembered that I am trying to make healthy choices.   This is why I knew I would need to both take it slow with my changes as well as be kind to myself when I don't make the best choices.  The rest of my day I did pretty well.  I limited myself to four peppermint kisses.  Well, that was kind of easy though,  the candy isn't mine.  I just took a few for the road and that was all I could have.

After work K, Gideon and I went to visit my Aunt/Godmother, cousin and her husband.   They offered us leftover Chinese food and had some really good raspberry squares for dessert.  I chose a smaller tart for myself.  Then on the drive home came the ice cream.   Ah, well.  For me, it is easier to make healthy choices earlier in the day.  More important than the food, we had a nice visit.  My aunt is 97 years old and recently diagnosed with cancer.  I expect to be visiting more often.

Today I am happy that only the outer windows of the car had frost on them in the car with a broken window.  There was a moment of panic when I stepped out this morning and saw the frost.  Very thankful that the heat works and the drive wasn't completely unbearably cold.  The car will be serviced for this issue on Saturday.  Until then, the rides are cold.

Coming back to work and being greeted by a student and hearing they got (at least most of) what they wanted for Christmas is another happy thing for today.  There were a few new haircuts and new clothes at school.  A student told me that I don't smile often and so I will endeavor to smile more.  They were right.

My big happy for today is getting to visit with family.  There was a puzzle to work on as well.  Perhaps I should add puzzle assembly to a things I want to do list.

This picture came across my Facebook feed today.  Since I failed to take any pictures, I thought this would be a nice addition.  Photo credit goes to: Incredible Recipes.  My apologies, that is the best I can do for crediting the picture.
