Spreading Seeds

This morning I took some pictures while the bees were busy pollinating the vegetables.  The flowers of the squashes don't seem to stay open for very long.  I don't remember seeing them open last night, they were wide and beautiful when I started pulling weeds nearby, they were mostly closed an hour or so later.  There are so many things to notice and I am missing a bunch.

Before dinner K, Gideon, and I went to spread the Queen Anne's lace seeds.  I say this knowing that I have no idea whether the tops I picked the other day were as close to being seeds as they should be for planting.  We spread them in hopes that some will grow in the area where all the trees were cut down last year leaving the area mostly barren.  Eventually things will grow there on their own, but I'd like to encourage some too.  Some things that are coming up so far are okay, like the yarrow.  There is also a bunch of pokeweed and horsenettle.  I could do without some of these, especially when they are in the garden.

K and I visited a friend today who was so generous she let us have the gas cooking grill they are no longer using.  Getting to see a friend, even though behind masks, is my happy for today.  I'm hoping to go back next week for a visit that includes a walk rather than lifting a grill into the van and disassembling the canopy for it.

Wouldn't this look better as a field of flowers?
With unlimited funds I'd cover this with fresh loam and plant...
maple trees, or clover, or wildflowers...
or Christmas trees.

Stay safe and wear a mask.
