New socks!

Yesterday, I let the cold weather cut my walk short.  Today I went through some boxes in my room and eventually came to the one with my winter clothes in it.  I knew where the box was, I just kept avoiding going through other boxes to get there.  The box I wanted had my good winter jacket and warmer gloves as well as other winter attire.  This meant that I made it through the entire one mile walk and was warm.  Yesterday I also stopped more often than today and that may have contributed to the cold hands as well.  Had it not been getting close to dark, I may have stayed out walking even longer.  Crunching on top of the frozen snow and ground in my warmer winter gear is a happy for today.  Other happy things include:

  • Commenter --K, thank you for the link about ice needles!  I knew they had to have a name!  I also followed the link that blog shared which went into more detail about different ice formations.  Nature has so many wonderful things to share.
  • We had a holiday delivery of fresh latkes today.  They were yummy.  Happy Hanukkah!
  • The delivery also brought new socks for K and I-sheep and llama.  K is the sheep and I am the llama.
  • My hair is long.  Yesterday I didn't braid it and this morning it took me about five minutes to untangle the mess it had become.  One of the things I tend to do to keep my fine hair in line is to make two braids, one behind each ear, and then tie those into a knot behind my head.  This works for a little while, but eventually my hair will dry and the knot will start to work its way out.  Often I will use a hair clamp to keep the knot together.  The clamp is not always comfortable though if I rest my head back.  I have also sewn my hair into this position.  This is a little time consuming and can be difficult to remove, but it works really well.  I had an idea this morning and I made a thing (altered an elastic) to hold the hair in the knot.  It still wanted to unknot, but didn't.  It was fun to try, and I may work at prefecting it another day.
This morning:
the elastic I altered is not very noticable.
This evening:
The weight of the hair has started to loosen the knot,
despite the altered elastic.

The clouds in the distance actually resembled smog.
I hope it wasn't.

Some areas are still snow covered and some are not.

Witch tree.  Tonight we are supposed to get lots of snow.
The property will look different tomorrow.

New socks!!

Wash your hands.
